Mortality rate is decreasing in Moldova

Mortality rate among children under 5 years decreased from 13.6% in 2010 to 11.9% in 2013 as reported at the meeting of the National Council for Child Protection.

The decrease number of deaths occurred after reducing the number of prenatal disorders and treatment of respiratory diseases of children. The number of injuries and poisonings decreased by 2.5 times.

Reduction of mortality rate is subject to better healthcare, social action at Community level but also a number of communication campaigns that have warned parents about the dangers of accidents among children.

Deputy - Prime Minister of Moldova, Tatiana Potîng who chaired the meeting highlighted the importance of the results and appreciated the efforts of stakeholders to reduce child mortality.

During the meeting of the National Council for Child Rights Protection experience of raions in implementing intersectoral cooperation mechanism for identification, assess, and monitoring assistance to child victims of violence, neglect and exploitation was discussed.
